Pashupatinath Temple (5km east of Kathmandu), Pashupatinath is the Hindus holy pilgrims, most important Hindu Temple in Nepal and all over from India.  Bathing at occasionally, funeral pyres burning on the Ghats and Stands on the banks of Bagmati River.The temple was listed in the UNESCO World Heritage Monument list in 1979 AD.

Boudhanath Stupa, also known as the Buddha Eye Stupa, is one of the largest and most significant Buddhist stupas in Nepal. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a major pilgrimage destination for Tibetan Buddhists. The stupa’s rich history, religious importance, and architectural grandeur make it a symbol of Nepal's cultural and spiritual heritage.

Boudhanath Stupa, dates back over 1,500 years. It was originally constructed in the 5th century during the reign of the Licchavi King Mandev. According to legend, King Mandev built the stupa as an act of penance for mistakenly killing his father. Another story credits a poultry-keeper widow named Jyajima and her four sons with constructing the stupa after receiving permission from the king.

Upon arrival in Simikot, board a helicopter flight to Hilsa, flying over dramatic Himalayan landscapes, deep river gorges, and remote mountain settlements. After landing at Hilsa, complete the necessary immigration and border formalities before crossing into Tibet.

After breakfast, drive to Darchen, the official base for the sacred Mount Kailash Kora. From here, continue to Yam Dwar, the traditional gateway of the pilgrimage, where your trekking journey begins.

Begin the first day of the Kora with a gradual trek through the beautiful Lha Chu Valley towards Dirapuk. Along the trail, enjoy stunning views of the northern face of the sacred Mount Kailash, prayer flags fluttering in the wind, and the peaceful silence of the Himalayan wilderness.

Upon arrival at Dirapuk, witness one of the most breathtaking close-up views of Mount Kailash, especially magical during sunset when the mountain glows with golden light.

The trail climbs steadily through a dramatic alpine landscape to Dolma La Pass (5,630m/18,471ft), a sacred site adorned with colorful prayer flags and revered by pilgrims as a place of spiritual transformation. From the pass, enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks and the sacred valley below. 

After crossing the pass, descend carefully past the holy Gauri Kund, a turquoise lake deeply revered in Hindu tradition. Continue trekking through rugged valleys, glacial streams, and beautiful Tibetan landscapes before reaching Zuthul Puk, famous for its historic meditation cave associated with the great Tibetan yogi Milarepa.

After completion of the Kora, meet your vehicle and drive back to Purang. The journey offers another opportunity to admire the vast Tibetan Plateau, with its open landscapes, distant snow peaks, and peaceful nomadic life.

Traveller Useful Information

IMPORTANT NOTES

  • Keep all receipts that you have until back to your home.
  • No flashy stuff-jewelry, valuables etc.
  • Strongly advised not to go wandering unless in large group (the “poor” men would have to suffer at the hands of the ladies who would want to shop), Always be aware of your surroundings.
  • Do not / not give money to street children/beggars.
  • Entrance to some temples may be prohibited for non-Hindus and Leather articles are prohibited inside temple precinct.
  • Casual wears and comfortable walking shoes are recommended to travel to Tibet.
  • Be sure to bring warm clothing as nights and early mornings can be quite chilly to downright cold.
  • Indian woman Pilgrims strictly advisable no Sari.
  • Bring all the film, medicine, cosmetics, personal toilet items etc, that you will need from home as these are difficult if not impossible to obtain on the way. A small first aid kit is also a good idea. Also quite useful to have a route map, to know where you are going and have been each day.

THINGS TO BRING

  • Gore-Tex material though expensive is highly recommended. Down jacket, raincoat or windbreakers, thermal underwears, Jackets, warm trousers & woolen shirts (cotton will also do), warm sweaters, woolen gloves, sun hat, sunglass UV, comfortable shoes, light leather boots in case of snow, woolen balaclava (‘monkey cap’) & scarf/dust mask to protect your eyes & nose from dust.
  • Wet tissues (Fresh-ones are excellent to wipe off the dust), clothes-line/clips, needle & thread, deo-spray (handy for smelly boots/feet and for a round of spray in the toilet tent!), toilet paper, torch & spare batteries, day bag back 20 to 25 Litters, 2 litters of Water bottle.
