Mount Kailash, known as “Gang Rinpoche” in Tibetian, has the highest elevation of 6,638m/21,778ft, is pilgrimage destinations of four different religions: Bon, Buddhism, Hinduism, and Jainism. Mount Kailash is observed to be most religious place on the Planet and is a part of Transhimalaya in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China. Mount Kailash is nearby two holy lakes: Manasarovar Lake and Lake Rakshastal. For the Hindus, Kailash is the abode of Lord Shiva, a symbol of his power and Mansarovar Lake mean Soul of Brahma. Jains believe that Ashtapada, the mountain next to Mt. Kailash, is the place where the first Jain attained liberation.  Buddhists believe that Buddha Cakrasamvara who represents supreme bliss lives in Mount Kailash. Bon followers believe that Mount Kailash and the surrounding region is the “seat of all spiritual power.”

Pashupatinath Temple (5km east of Kathmandu), Pashupatinath is the Hindus holy pilgrims, most impotent Hindu Temple in Nepal and all over from India.  Bathing at occasionally, funeral pyres burning on the Ghats and Stands on the banks of Bagmati River.The temple was listed in the UNESCO World Heritage Monument list in 1979 AD.

Traveller Useful Information

IMPORTANT NOTES

  • Keep all receipts that you have until back to your home.
  • No flashy stuff-jewelry, valuables etc.
  • Strongly advised not to go wandering unless in large group (the “poor” men would have to suffer at the hands of the ladies who would want to shop), Always be aware of your surroundings.
  • Do not / not give money to street children/beggars.
  • Entrance to some temples may be prohibited for non-Hindus and Leather articles are prohibited inside temple precinct.
  • Casual wears and comfortable walking shoes are recommended to travel to Tibet.
  • Be sure to bring warm clothing as nights and early mornings can be quite chilly to downright cold.
  • Indian woman Pilgrims strictly advisable no Sari.
  • Bring all the film, medicine, cosmetics, personal toilet items etc, that you will need from home as these are difficult if not impossible to obtain on the way. A small first aid kit is also a good idea. Also quite useful to have a route map, to know where you are going and have been each day.

THINGS TO BRING

  • Gore-Tex material though expensive is highly recommended. Down jacket, raincoat or windbreakers, thermal underwears, Jackets, warm trousers & woolen shirts (cotton will also do), warm sweaters, woolen gloves, sun hat, sunglass UV, comfortable shoes, light leather boots in case of snow, woolen balaclava (‘monkey cap’) & scarf/dust mask to protect your eyes & nose from dust.
  • Wet tissues (Fresh-ones are excellent to wipe off the dust), clothes-line/clips, needle & thread, deo-spray (handy for smelly boots/feet and for a round of spray in the toilet tent!), toilet paper, torch & spare batteries, day bag back 20 to 25 Litters, 2 litters of Water bottle.
  • Snacks along the way. Chocolates, energy bars, dry fruit, coffee, glucose; ‘namkeen’
