Helambu Trekking is one another popular trekking trails in Langtang region. Helambu Trek is located to the north-east of Kathmandu is easily accessible on foot. This is one of the most loved and demanded trekking destination among our clients and frequently organized trekking package by Alliance Adventure. One of the features of this trekking is that the travelers will have a chance not only to see and explore the mountain range of the Langtang region but to explore the amazing culture of various ethnic groups residing in the areas primarily of Tamang, Sherpa, and Hyolmo. You will be amazed by their innocent smiles, warm hospitality, benevolent services, outstanding landscapes, beautiful village, houses are thatched and stone roofed, the monasteries, Chhorten. These all the features have made the trekking in Langtang region one of the special and loved trails. It is relatively low altitude and short trekking. The highest point of the trekking goes not more than 3,600 m Tharepati La pass. Though the trekking is limited to the low altitude areas, the travelers will have a chance to have beautiful scenes of white-Himalayas namely of Jugal Himal, Gauri Shankar, Dorje Lakpa, Ganesh Himal, Langtang Lirung and other mountains lying in the Langtang region.

Helambu Trekking can be completed merely within a week or can be extended to over two or three weeks going over the Mountain Lake Goshainkunda, spectacular and remote valley. There are two routes for the beginning of trekking to Helambu. One trail begins from Sundarijal and another begins from Syabru Bensi. Either that be from Sundarijal or Syabrubesi, the trail then continues through the jungle along the holy lake Gosaikunda and finally reaches at Helambu. After making excursion to the area and enjoying the cultural blend of diverse ethnic people residing in the area, you will return to the place called Chisapani and subsequently return back to Kathmandu

The Drive from Kathmandu to Sundrijal and Trek to Chisapani (2,165m/7,544ft) 4 to 5 Hours, is a popular short hike that provides an excellent escape into nature with stunning views of the Himalayas, lush green hills, and serene villages. Sundrijal is a beautiful waterfall and the gateway to Shivapuri National Park, trek through a protected forest with diverse flora and fauna and Panoramic views of the Langtang range, Ganesh Himal, and distant Annapurna peaks. The trail passing through small villages, Pati Bhanjyang, a settlement with basic teahouses and climbs steeply from Pati Bhanjyang to Gul Bhanjyang. the trail gradually ascends through forests and open ridges to the Kutumsang.

As you ascend, you'll traverse beautiful forests and ridges, culminating in a high-altitude settlement with spectacular mountain panoramas with magnificent views of Langtang Himal, Ganesh Himal, Dorje Lakpa, Jugal range to Gaurishangar and more views  whence clear days.

The trek from Thadepati to Tarkeghyang (2600m) 5 to 6 hours, is a rewarding segment of the Helambu trekking route. It involves a steep descent followed by a gradual ascent, taking you through serene forests, traditional villages, and terraced fields. Tarkeghyang, known as the "Sherpa Village," is one of the cultural highlights of the trek, offering insights into Sherpa heritage and stunning mountain views. The steep descent through dense forests of rhododendron, oak, and bamboo with occasional wildlife sightings and the sound of birds chirping. The trail ascends gradually through terraced fields and forests, corssoing Melamchi rive continues passing small settlements and prayer flags, signaling the approach to Tarkeghyang.

The trek from Tarkeghyang to Shermathang (2,590m) 5 to 6 hours, is a scenic and relatively easier section of the Helambu trekking circuit in Nepal. This route passes through Sherpa villages, terraced fields, and tranquil forests, offering trekkers an authentic cultural experience and beautiful landscapes. The trail begins with a relatively flat path, making it less strenuous compared to other sections of the trek. The both Tarkeghyang and Shermathang are traditional Sherpa villages with a rich Tibetan Buddhist heritage. You’ll witness unique architecture, mani walls, prayer flags, and stupas along the way. This picturesque Sherpa village sits on a slightly elevated ridge, offering a panoramic view of the Jugal Himal range and the surrounding hills.

IMPORTANT NOTES

  • Keep all receipts that you have until you arrive at home.
  • No flashy stuff-jewelry, valuables etc.
  • Strongly advised not to go wandering unless in large group (the “poor” men would have to Suffer at the hands of the ladies who would want to shop), Always be aware of your surroundings.
  • Entrance to some temples may be prohibited for non-Hindus & Leather articles are prohibited inside temple precinct.

THINGS TO BRING

  • Windproof outer jacket and warm down-filled jacket good if afraid of cold.
  • Comfortable trousers for men and loose skirts for women during the day.
  • Gloves, hat or cap, sun glasses, sun block, lip balm, etc. To avoid sun burn as the sun in high altitude can be quite intense.
  • Masi-Guard Insect Repellent Spray and Muscle-ache cream.
  • Lightweight trekking water proof shoes, warm woolen/ thermal socks. (If one is afraid of cold, otherwise, plain ol’ ordinary socks will suffice.
  • Thermal undergarments this is for the night which might be a bit cold, otherwise, tracksuit should suffice.
  • Flashlight and spare batteries.
