The final section is a steep 1-hour climb on zigzag paths leading to Thorong High Camp. The trail is short but physically demanding due to the altitude. High Camp offers stunning views of Gungang Himal, Thorong Peak, and the surrounding Himalayan range.

Start your trek early (around 4:00–5:00 AM) to cross the pass before strong winds begin. The trail climbs steadily on zigzag paths over rocky and icy slopes. The route is well-marked with poles and stone cairns, but snow may obscure parts of the path during colder months. Reaching the Thorong-La Pass offers incredible views of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Yakawa Kang, Khatung Kang, and Thorong Peak. There’s a small teahouse or hut at the pass where trekkers often enjoy hot tea and take group photos by the famous Thorong-La Pass signboard. From the pass, it’s a long, steep descent of about 1,600m to Muktinath. The downhill path is rough on the knees, often covered in loose gravel and snow near the top. As you descend, the barren landscapes of Lower Mustang and the Kali Gandaki Valley begin to appear. Eventually, the trail leads into Ranipauwa, the main village near Muktinath Temple.
Drive from Muktinath to Jomsom (2 hours). In the morning, visit holy pilgrimage site for both Hindu and Buddhist monastery, committed to the Lord Vishnu. Muktinath Temple which one is holy Hindu Jwala Mai Temple around 108 waterspout and everlasting flame fed by natural underground Gash.
The drive begins with a steep downhill from Ranipauwa on a rough, dusty, and sometimes bumpy road. Enjoy beautiful views of the Nilgiri and Dhaulagiri ranges along the way. Pass through Jharkot Village, known for its traditional monastery and medieval architecture. After about 45 minutes, you’ll reach Kagbeni, the gateway to Upper Mustang, where the Kali Gandaki River begins to widen. Optional short stop for tea or photos at Kagbeni, the road follows the wide riverbed of the Kali Gandaki, surrounded by dramatic wind-eroded cliffs. The terrain flattens as you approach Jomsom. The drive takes around 45 minutes to 1 hour. Jomsom is famous for its strong afternoon winds, apple orchards, and views of Nilgiri and Tukuche peaks.
