Everest Base Camp Trek is one of the most popular trekking trails in Everest region. One of the reasons, why it is such famous is that it offers a unique and unforgettable experience with awesome views of the world’s highest and most beautiful mountains– Mt. Everest (8,848 m). The trekking to this region has been famous ever since Sir Edmund Hilary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa made their first successful summit in 1953. The trek is famous for its spectacular mountain peaks and friendliness of its inhabitants (Sherpa). It is the most famous and challenging trek in Khumbu region, one of the most popular destinations for tourists. Everest Base Camp Trek is considered to be one of the most rewarding adventure trips in Khumbu Himalaya range as there are superb Himalayan sceneries including of Mt. Everest (8848m), Mt Lhotse (8516m), Mt. Nuptse (7855m), Mt. Pumori (7161m), Mt. Changaste (7550m), Mt. Lingterin (6679m), Mt. Amadablam (6856m), Mt. Thamserku (6723m), Mt. Everest Base Camp Trek begins by flight from Kathmandu to the mountain airstrip to Lukla, the heart of Everest Region, then after around three hours walk, you will reach Phakding and then you continue north up to Dudh Kosi valley and to Namche Bazaar, where you spend one day for acclimatization. The next day, you will continue trekking to Kala-Pattar and subsequently to the Everest base camp. You have time for rest one day in Dingboche or Pheriche in between and for some side-trips and for further acclimatization from the area, you can have some magnificent views of Everest along with Nuptse, Lhotse, and Mount Pumori and return back to Lukla and catch the flight to Kathmandu. After breakfast last minutes shopping for Everest Base Camp Trek and Packing. After lunch at 2PM drive from Kathmandu Hotel to Manthali Airport (Ramechhap), it takes 4 hours of scenic journey through the hilly terrain, country side of life styel. The jounrey passing through southeast of Araniko and BP highway offers beautiful views.
Flight from Manthali Airport to Lukla Airport (2840m/9,315ft) about 15 minutes flight and trek to Phakding (2610m/8,560ft) 3 hours OR Monjo (2,835m/9,299ft) 5 hours. From today Everest Base Camp Trek starts by foot You will catch a glimpse of some great mountains such as Nupla (5,885m/19,302ft) above Kongde Ridge, Kusum Kang (6367m appears on the right a little later. All along you will be following the northern (left) bank of the Dudh Kosi River. It is important to take these first few days slowly to enable your body to acclimatize and to enjoy the passing scenery and culture.
Trek from Phakding OR Monjo to Namche Bazaar (3,440m/11,283ft) 6/4 hours. Namche Bazaar is one of the biggest market towns in Everest region as Acclimatization place of trekking and expedition. Today begins on the level ground, relative to the environment in which you are! You will cross the river on a high suspension bridge and begin to climb up to Monjo (2,835m) and onto the gateway to the Sagarmatha National Park Entrance in place to protect and preserve this beautiful environment. There is a good rest stop on the way up to where you will see people gathered, admiring the first real chance to see Everest in the distance. On the way up today, you will be rewarded with views of Kusum Kanguru, Thamserku, Konde-Ri and Tawache Peak than we reach Namche Bazaar.
Rest and Acclimatization in Namche Bazaar. Today your Guides will take you to Visitor Center of headquarter Sagarmatha National Park where we can observe an assortment of things related to the first Everest ascendance’s, Sherpa culture and learn about the various plant and animal life of the Everest region. Namche Bazaar is the main center of the Everest (Khumbu) region and has government offices, Internet cafes, shops, restaurants, a bakery and a colorful market each Friday evening and Saturday.
Trek from Namche Bazaar to Deboche (3,820m/12,530ft) 5/6 hours. Today’s journey starts with excellent views of Ama Dablam and Everest view along the trail then descends to Phunki Thanga where it takes 2-hour to climb to Tengboche Monastery, one of the biggest Monasteries in Solu Khumbu region. The religious center of the Khumbu region and then trek walk down to Depoche.
Trek from Deboche to Pheriche (4,244m/13,921ft) 5/6 hours, is a scenic and relatively moderate journey through the heart of the Everest region. It’s a popular segment for trekkers heading toward Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar. The trail begins with a gentle ascent through beautiful rhododendron forests, After an hour, you’ll reach Pangboche (3,985m), a charming village known for its ancient monastery and spectacular views of Ama Dablam. The walking pass through Shomare (4,010m), the terrain transitions to alpine landscapes with fewer trees and enjoy stunning views of surrounding peaks, including Ama Dablam, Taboche, and Cholatse.
Rest and Acclimatization in Pheriche after short hiking to Nagkar Tashang Peak and enjoy the outstanding mountain views of Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Taboche, Cholatse and Lhotse-Nuptse ridge. There are several walk options enabling your body to acclimatization and visit to Himalayan Rescue Association and know about what’s the mountain sickness by international volunteer Doctor’s will brief you about the high altitude sickness.
The trek from Pheriche to Lobuche takes you further into the high Himalayas, with stunning views of snow-capped peaks and glacial landscapes. The trail leading a gentle ascent through a wide, open valley, following the glacial river and around 2 hours, you'll reach Thukla (4,620 m), where many trekkers stop for tea/snacks or early Lunch. After lunch the trek thorugh up steep but short and takes about 45 minutes to an hour at the top of the Thukla Pass (ridge), you'll find memorials dedicated to climbers who lost their lives on Everest. It's a somber yet inspiring place to pause and reflect. The trail levels out somewhat after the pass, leading to a rocky moraine landscape with views of the Khumbu Glacier.
The trek from Lobuche to Gorak Shep (5,164m/16,942ft) 3/4 hours and onward to Everest Base Camp (EBC) (5,364m/17,598ft) 2 to 3 hours, is one of the most iconic and rewarding segments of the Everest Base Camp trek. This day involves a challenging but unforgettable journey through the high-altitude terrain of the Khumbu regions. You will ascend gently, to begin with through lovely pasture lands; you will follow the rocky moraine path with views of the Khumbu Glacier. Gorakshep is on a flat field below Kala Pattar (5545m) and Pumori (7145m). Everest Base Camp (EBC) is a dream destination for trekkers and adventurers from around the world. It offers the chance to stand in the shadow of the world's highest mountain, Mount Everest (8,849m/ 29,032ft), and witness some of the most awe-inspiring landscapes on Earth.
Trek from Gorak Shep to Kala Patthar (5545m/18,188ft) 2 to 3 hours, and then trek to Lobuche (4,910m/16,105ft) 3 hours, is an exhilarating and rewarding day in the Everest region. It combines an iconic viewpoint for stunning panoramas of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Pumori, Khumbu Glacier and more surrounding peaks with a descent to Lobuche for rest.
If ascending Kala Patthar for sunrise, leave from Gorak Shep around 4-5 AM with a headlamp and early starts also help avoid wind and allow enough daylight for the trek to Lobuche. The steep ascent to Kala Patthar can trigger symptoms of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). You have to drink plenty of water and have high-energy snacks.
Trek from Lobuche to Tengboche Monastery (3,867m/12,684ft) 6 hours, is a delightful descent through the Khumbu Valley, offering breathtaking mountain views and cultural experiences. The trek retrace your steps along the trail through rocky terrain and glacial moraine. The trail descent to the Dudh Koshi River, where you’ll cross a suspension bridge, after crossing the river, it’s a steady uphill climb to Tyangboche. The spiritual center of the Khumbu region, it’s one of Nepal’s most iconic Buddhist monasteries. Tengboche Monastery is famous Monastery in Khumbu region as well as biggest Monastery and the best time to visit in Monastery after 3 pm until 5 pm or early in the morning because all lamas are at the work-ship time.
Trek from Tengboche to Monjo Village (2635m) 6/7 hours, is a beautiful and moderately challenging segment of the Everest Base Camp Trek, descending through lush forests, picturesque villages, and alongside the Dudh Koshi River. Early in the visit to the Tengboche Monastery, the largest in the khumbu region, offering breathtaking views of Everest, Ama Dablam, and other peaks. The trail descends steeply through rhododendron forests to Phunki Tenga, a small settlement near a suspension bridge. After crossing the river, a moderate uphill climb leads to Kyangjuma, with panoramic views of the Himalayas with continues through to Namche Bazaar. The final stretch involves a gradual descent through pine forests, passing through small villages like Jorsale, before reaching Monjo, located at the edge of Sagarmatha National Park.
The trek from Monjo to Lukla Airport (2,840m) 5 hours, marks the final leg of the Everest region of Everest Base Camp. It’s mostly a descent through picturesque villages, suspension bridges, and forested trails, though there are some challenging uphill sections. The final stretch involves a gradual ascent to Lukla, passing through villages and celebration of appreciation and create lasting memories with Guide and Potters.
