After breakfast in Hotel, drive to Timbu Village in Sindhupalchok District, Nepal, is a relatively short and scenic journey into the Helambu region. The journey through Araniko Highway (H02) passing to Bhaktapur, Banepa, Dhulikhel, and dolalghat, continue towards Melamchi Bazaar following the narrow, winding road towards Timbu Village. Timbu village serves as a gateway to trekking in the Helambu and Langtang regions, check in lodge and guide will take you a explore village and briefing your trekking Ama Yangri Peak.
The trek from Timbu to Tarke Gyang is a short but scenic route in Nepal’s Helambu Region, known for its cultural richness, picturesque landscapes, and proximity to Kathmandu. Tarke Gyang is a beautiful Sherpa village and a popular destination for trekkers. the trail starts with a steady ascent from Timbu, winding through terraced fields and small settlements. After a couple of hours, you’ll reach Kakani, a small stopover point with panoramic views of the surrounding hills and continue climbing uphill along forested trails, with glimpses of snow-capped peaks and than you’ll arrive at Tarke Gyang, known for its traditional Sherpa culture and charming stone houses. Tarke Gyang is often called the "Village of Stone Houses" due to its unique architecture, explore the Tarke Gyang Monastery, one of the oldest and most revered in the region. Interact with the locals, who are predominantly Sherpa and Tamang, and experience their warm hospitality.
The hike to Ama Yangri Peak from Tarke Gyang is one of the most rewarding day hikes in the Helambu region. At an altitude of (3,771m/12,372ft), Ama Yangri offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Langtang, Jugal, Ganesh, and Everest Himalayan ranges, along with the surrounding valleys and hills. It is considered a sacred site for the local Tamang and Sherpa communities. Early hot breakfast and following the well-marked trail through dense rhododendron and pine forests. The trail steadily ascends, offering glimpses of nearby villages and terraced fields and keep an eye out for Himalayan wildlife such as pheasants, monkeys, and even red pandas (if you’re lucky). The final stretch is a steep uphill climb, but the effort is rewarded with stunning panoramic views from the summit incredible 360-degree views of the Himalayan ranges with a small chorten (stupa), fluttering prayer flags. It’s part of the popular Helambu Trek and offers opportunities to explore traditional Sherpa villages, terraced fields, and forested landscapes, all while enjoying beautiful Himalayan views. The trail gentle descent through forests and small villages. Ghangyul, a traditional Sherpa village, is one of the first stops. The road is unpaved and bumpy in sections, winding downhill through villages, terraced fields, forests and continues from Melamchi, follow the road toward Dhulikhel via Panchkhal join the Araniko Highway and continue toward Kathmandu.
